in honour of Ibn Sina

We have chosen to name our farm Avicenna Farm in honour of probably the most significant philosopher in the Islamic tradition and arguably the most influential philosopher in the pre-modern era.

Avicenna is the Latinized name of Ibn Sina. His formal Arabic name was Abu Ali al-Husayn bin Abdullah ibn al-Hasan bin Ali bin Sina al-Balkhi al-Bukhari.

He was regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age. He is also regarded as the father of early modern medicine.
